Dave has an accomplished career spanning 35 years of policing experience, largely in the investigative field, including (but not limited to) 16 years in Major Crime/Homicide, Sexual Assaults, 6 years in Violent Crimes and General Investigation, 3 years in Forensic Crime Scene Investigation and over 3 years in Violent Crime Analysis Section of Behavioural Sciences Unit of the RCMP.

Spanning his 35 years in law enforcement, Dave has successfully partnered with other police agencies such as Interpol, RCMP, Niagara Police Organized Crime Unit, FBI, Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal Police Agencies.

Dave has worked almost every type of Criminal Investigation including homicide, cold cases, sexual assault, robbery, fraud, break and enters, extortion, as well as the interception of private communications. Dave is a past proven skilled and successful investigator as well as an accomplished warrant writer and affiant of extensive Supreme Court affidavits for the interception of private communications. Dave is also skilled at, and has extensive experience in interviewing, managing large multi jurisdictional and multi agency investigations. Dave has acquired a comprehensive understanding of all types of investigations, overall industry knowledge and international resources and contacts. Dave has personally been involved with100's of death investigations, sexual assault investigations, Criminal Investigative Behavioural Analysis (Profiling) and is a certified specialist in Violent Crime Investigative Analyst behaviourally analyzing over 100's of violent crime scenes, as well as a certified Forensic Crime Scene Technician, having hands on experience in1000's of crime scene forensic investigations and is a court declared fingerprint expert in 2004 and 2016 at the NS Provincial Court Level.

Dave has extensive experience in police training and teaching, having developed, implemented, and instructed the 1st investigational program and curriculum for the 1st Halifax Regional Police Service Police Cadet Science Program and supervised and instructed for 3 subsequent years. Dave has also taught law enforcement on sex offender behaviours including topics such as fantasies, rituals, and rapist typologies.

Dave haspersonal experience in event planning. In 2011 Dave was the Security Manager and Planner for the Canada Winter Games held in Halifax. This involved total planning for security related matters for all events, venues and participants as well as training volunteer security staff.

Dave also has personal experience and training in personal security. Formally trained by the RCMP, Dave participated in the 1987 Commonwealth Conference in Vancouver, G7 Summit in halifax 1997 and President George Bush's visit to Halifax in 2004.

Dave was appointed by the Chief Justice of NS in June 2016 to sit on the Nova Scotia Judicial Council.
